29Feb2020
Chesham, HP5 1DS

Fairtrade volunteers will be serving delicious, homemade cakes, scones and other treats at their pop-up cafe.

From 2.00pm until 4.30pm

At Chesham Town Hall

Chesham, HP5 1DS

Fairtrade Chesham / 01494 583798

Fairtrade volunteers will be serving delicious, homemade cakes, scones and other treats. Along with high quality, ethically-produced teas and coffees, an array of baked goods will showcase Fairtrade ingredients. There will be gluten-free and vegan options available, along with a Traidcraft stall where you can buy your own Fairtrade ingredients to get baking! And there will be a quiz where you can win some Fairtrade goodies. The café is part of Fairtrade Fortnight, which happens every year, to show UK consumers the power they have to improve lives around the world each time they go shopping. Fairtrade ensures developing world farmers get a fair price for their goods, supports farmers to protect the environment, helps them to invest in their communities and supports female empowerment in societies where women get the roughest deal of all – with more labour, less income and fewer rights than men. With the average cocoa farmer in Ghana earning less than 75p per day, which is well below the extreme poverty line of around £1.40, we need consumers to leap into buying Fairtrade so that more hard-working farmers can access the Fairtrade system.
