Get Involved with Chiltern Voice

Are you interested in getting involved in Chiltern Voice?
Perhaps you have an interest in music, theatre or performance?
Maybe you fancy yourself as the next Terry Wogan or Pete Tong?
Or you may just want to be part of a friendly fun group of people and are looking for a new hobby?

Chiltern Voice is looking for volunteers to join us as part of this Ofcom licenced, local radio station for the Chilterns, broadcasting on 107.4FM, on-line, via the Web or your smart-speaker.

We are the hub of radio-based local news and information for Amersham, Chesham and the surrounding towns and villages. Our radio station broadcasts 24 hours-a-day from our studios in the heart of the Chilterns and is primarily a popular music station providing local news, sport, what’s on and information. We support charities & community groups and if you are a member of one or more, then Chiltern Voice welcomes you to promote these other groups & charities from within our local area.

A radio station needs a variety of volunteers

Most of our prime-time programmes follow our in-house play-list which includes a variety of music from the 1960’s right up to today. A few of our programmes are ‘Specialist Music’ and these are in the evenings and some weekend slots. We are particularly seeking local presenters interested in creating local content, presenting local interviews, and covering local events through Outside Broadcasts; while there are opportunities for ‘Specialist Music Presenters’ these are limited.

We are seeking volunteers in the following areas:

  • Presenting & hosting a show
  • Presenting as part of an ad-hoc pool of presenters
  • News generation and news reading
  • Fund raising
  • Administration
  • Engineering / IT / Technical
  • PR & Social Media
  • Events & Outside broadcasts (both technical & public-facing)
  • Sales, Marketing & Sponsorship

We are always keen to meet new people and welcome them to the station, whether they want to present, help making programmes, be part of our outside broadcast or community engagement teams or just be a part of the background team that makes the whole station run.

There is a small membership fee which only become payable once you have had your introductory training (and we decide we like each other!) and, if you are wanting to present, you pass your presenter training.
