Chesham Fringe Festival The Chesham Fringe Festival runs from Saturday 25th until Monday 27th May 2024. There are going to be over 100 acts performing in over 10 venues around the town. This includes Chesham Cricket and Football clubs, The Drawing Room, The Little Theatre by the Park, Chesham Youth Centre and Chesham Town Hall. Featured acts include Ninia Benjamin, The Chris Slade Timeline who are an AC/DC tribute act, Fore Fighters and Olaf Falafel. DHUN - A musical night to remember At the Elgiva Theatre Chesham on 27th of April, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm, come and see a magnificent display of musical prowess, featuring classical Indian music performances by talented artists from our community and beyond. DHUN being organized by AMERINDIS is a musical evening that aims to showcase the vibrant and diverse musical talent who have ties to various regions of India yet have lived locally for a long time. This event promises to be a magnificent display of musical prowess, featuring classical Indian music performances by talented artists from our community and beyond. Classical Indian dance will kick off the performance, which will be followed by a duet of traditional Indian musical instruments. A full orchestra performing Bollywood songs will cap off the occasion. Being a sold-out event last year, this event is one of the most popular event locally and we aim to make it even better. The following will be part of the event: 1.Kathak is a major classical dance form of Northern India. 2. Jugalbandi is a performance in Indian classical music that features a duet, between two solo musicians. 3. Bolliwood Live Music: The performing vocalists are Rajan Shegunshi, Ashvini Kane, Mandar Sane, Manas Mallick and Pearl Chowksi. Dementia Respite Care Sponsored Walk The sponsored walk takes place next Sunday April 28th from 11am to 2pm, starting from the clock tower in Chesham. My Town Choir My Town Choir is a non-auditioning Community Choir. The choir meets on Friday evenings during term time at St Marys Church Hall from 7pm to 9pm. Talkback Youth Club Join the Talkback Youth Club on the last Friday of every month at Amersham Youth Centre on Chichester Row, Amershm HP6 5AR. Activities include Workshops, Sports, Creative Arts, Crafts, Cooking, Games, Gardening, Trips and visits, Pool and much more. The club is aimed at autistic young people from ages 16-24 and takes place from 6pm to 8pm at the Amersham Youth Centre on the last Friday of each month.

To Be Active - 60+ Fitness and Social Club Do you want to maximise your mobility and better your balance? Local Produce Market The local produce market takes place in the Market Square in Chesham on the 4th Saturday of each month. The market is open from 10am until 2pm. By offering local produce it means fewer food miles and in turn this helps support the local economy. Just come down to the Market Square, Chesham on the 4th Saturday of the month.

Lunch Club at Little Chalfont Little Chalfont has recently launched a new Lunch Club on the 4th Sunday of every month. This takes place from 12:30pm at The Kokum at 68 Elizabeth Avenue, Little Chafont, HP6 6QJ. Cost is £15.00 per person for a two course meal and booking is essential. Rennie Grove Peace Hospice The Rennie Grove Peace Hospice have a number of fundraising events taking place in 2024. The year started with the firewalk and then later in the year there will be a number of other challenge walks including the annual 3-peaks challenge in September. They are also in need of volunteers to help give companionship and practical support to patients who are living with a life limiting illness. If so volunteer drivers are needed to help get people to essential appointments by providing a friendly and affordable solution when transport is not possible for any reason. Volunteer drivers wanted urgently! The Chesham Voluntary Hospital Car service is a small local charity (reg.no.1151769) working in support of NHS Ambulance in providing necessary transport to clinical appointments for patients of the three Chesham surgeries. In existence for over 60 years, the service is proud that it was even able to continue throughout the darkest days of the pandemic, when the Ambulance Service was so seriously compromised. Unfortunately volunteer numbers have dropped to a level that often now prevents the service being able to meet the demand. PLEASE do help if you can as this service has proved invaluable to many of our residents on lower income, those with no transport of their own or those incapacitated and unable to drive due to illness.Even if you can only do the occasional run, that would still be a very valuable contribution. Rennie Grove Hospice Shop Rennie Grove's new boutique Hospice Shop recently opened in Chalfont St Giles after an extensive re-fit of the old shop. The new shop has a green-grey finish instead of the purple and pink usually associated with the charity. The shop has high end and designer fashion which complements the items sold in other shops. You will find the new boutique shop located in the High Street in Chalfont St Giles.

Recycling Electricals A quick reminder of the correct way to recycle small electrical items. This follows a fire on a collection truck which was caused by a laptop and battery placed in a recycling bin. Batteries and small electricals such as hairdryers, Games Controllers, Mobile Phones and small power tools should be bagged and left on the top of your bin. Any items larger than a shoe box should be taken to a waste and recycling centre. The council can also arrange a collection of bulky waste for a fee.

Use of E-scooters Thames Valley Police have issued some guidance in relation to the use of E-scooters in public places and on the highway. Under current legislation the riding of privately owned e-scooters is illegal on roads, pavements cycle ways and other public areas. Private scooters can be used on private land providing the land owners permission has been given. The only scooters they may legally used in public areas are those the are part of a government trial which in Buckinghamshire are mainly the Zipp branded scooters. They support disadvantaged students training as doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other health workers in Malawi. It offers an informal friendly environment and welcomes both those with memory loss and their carers. Cafe 22 is a place for improving well-being by providing a place to ask questions, share experiences, reminisce and above all a place of interest and enjoyment. They meet every Thursday morning from 10am until 11:45am at St Georges Church Hall on White Lion Road, Little Chalfont. Chilterns Dial-A-Ride Do you need help to get out and about or have a problem with transport? If so the Chilterns Dial-A-Ride may be able to help. This offers a Door-To-Door round trip service to take you to such places as medical appointments, shopping, Day Centres and Social Trips. Fix My Street in Buckinghamshire Fix My Street is a web based reporting service operated by Buckinghamshire Council. The web site can be used for reporting issues such as potholes, faulty streetlights, flytipping, graffiti and much more. Fly Tipping in Buckinghamshire Buckinghamshire Council is asking for your help to reduce fly-tipping. Dont pay cash to get rid of your trash is the simple request from Buckinghamshire Council. If you have had a clear out, have D.I.Y. rubbish or a large item such as a fridge or mattress paying someone cash in hand means your waste is more likely to be fly tipped. Always use a company that has a Waste Operators Licence and get a receipt. That way you will be doing your bit to help prevent fly tipping.

Grow and Give Scheme The Grow to Give scheme was first launched in June 2020 and is a community food initiative that has developed and expanded over the last three years. It works by encouraging people to grow more food in their garden or allotment and donate the surplus to community foodbanks and fridges. Collection sites are set up at allotments making it quick and easy for local residents to donate. Chesham Community Fridge The Chesham Community Fridge is open to everyone sharing good food that would otherwise go to waste. They are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays 10am to noon on Chesham Broadway next to the Baptist Church. There is no charge for using the fridge, just bring along a clean bag-for-life and it will be exchanged for one full of fresh food. Dementia Carers Respite Dementia Carers Respite provides professional carers to visit and give much needed relief to family carers in their own homes. Many dementia sufferers and their carers or partners do not qualify for financial assistance so either struggle on alone without any assistance or have to seek private care which they can ill afford. Dementia Carers Respite is the charity that cares for the carers themselves. Donations are welcome as are offers of any help. Volunteer drivers wanted urgently! The Chesham Voluntary Hospital Car service is a small local charity (reg.no.1151769) working in support of NHS Ambulance in providing necessary transport to clinical appointments for patients of the three Chesham surgeries. In existence for over 60 years, the service is proud that it was even able to continue throughout the darkest days of the pandemic, when the Ambulance Service was so seriously compromised. Unfortunately volunteer numbers have dropped to a level that often now prevents the service being able to meet the demand. PLEASE do help if you can as this service has proved invaluable to many of our residents on lower income, those with no transport of their own or those incapacitated and unable to drive due to illness.Even if you can only do the occasional run, that would still be a very valuable contribution. Grow and Give Scheme The Grow to Give scheme was first launched in June 2020 and is a community food initiative that has developed and expanded over the last three years. It works by encouraging people to grow more food in their garden or allotment and donate the surplus to community foodbanks and fridges. Collection sites are set up at allotments making it quick and easy for local residents to donate.
